Time: approx. 30 – 45 minutes  including preparation and cutting (depending on your level of advancement)

Difficulty level: 1

Materials: waterproof polyester, nylon, cordura, preferably something waterproof and strong, tape to finish the inside, preferably some polyester tape with a width of about 2-2.5 cm + zipper tape

1. You can download the pattern by saving this sketch prepared in A4 format. If it is too small for you, simply enlarge it 🙂

2. The pencil case should be cut x2

and the marked places where the zipper begins and ends should be drawn

3. Sew a “hook” on which the clip hook will possibly be attached, it must be narrower than the gap between the beginning and end of the zipper

4. Sewing a zipper tape. First split it in half, only half the tape will be needed

Then attach the tape around the pencil case – first place one cut part on the other with the right sides out

The ends of the tape must overlap by about 2 cm

Mark the beginning and the end on the tape, transferred earlier from the pattern to the material

Now sew the tape around from the marked beginning to the marked end. In curves, the zipper tape must be slightly cut o that it fits well

5. Sew “trimming” on the zipper tape. After sewing the zipper tape around the pencil case, we cover it with a trimming made of polyester ribbon / the same material / classic trimming

After sewing the trimming from the inside, lockstitch the whole thing from the outside

6. Now sew in the prepared clip hook between the beginning and the end of the zipper

Turn the ends of the zipper to the outside and put on the zipper

Sew the ends of the zipper

After sewing, trim the excess, you can also burn the edge and turn the ends inside the pencil case

Now just zip it up and you’re done!
