The felting effect can vary dramatically depending on the fabric or wool used, allowing you to explore a wide range of creative looks—from subtle detailing to bold, artistic finishes.

Felting Techniques
You can experiment with three unique embroidery techniques, for which downloadable designs are available:
Free-Standing Felting
One-Layer Embroidery
Multi-Layer Embroidery
Embroidery files (VP3 format) can be downloaded online and must be unzipped to access.
Recommended Fabrics
While most fabrics can be used, the best results are achieved with:
Natural fibers, especially wool or wool roving
Napped or textured surfaces that allow fibers to bond easily
Avoid synthetic fabrics with smooth “wash-and-wear” finishes, as they resist the felting process. Because results may vary by material, it is always recommended to test on a fabric sample before starting your full design.
Hooping Instructions
No thread is used when embroidering with felting needles.
Hoop the fabric right side down.
For free-standing felting or use of wool roving, apply a water-soluble stabilizer.
