If you are experiencing problems with pulling in the fabric and/or looping, here are some tips. One of the most common sewing machine malfunctions that can happen to us is pulling in the fabric. Most often it is pulling the fabric under the presser foot and also looping. How to fix the problem on your own?

The most common cause of material being pulled by the sewing machine is incorrect threading of the upper thread. Remember to always follow the instructions on how to thread the machine. Do not skip any step. It is also crucial to keep the threading order. Threading is always done with the presser foot raised and the needle raised to the highest level. These steps ensure that the machine is threaded correctly. When threading the thread, it is worth checking whether the thread runs correctly through the tension unit – through the tension plates and the hook. You should also verify that there are no thread remnants.

Thread tension is another possible reason for material being pulled in. Improper thread tension will result in the quality of the stitch and the possibility of the fabric being pulled in by the machine.

It is also worth checking the condition of the bobbin case, whether it has been damaged, which may result in improper thread guiding, material pulling and loops. Replacing the bobbin can also fix the problem.
Uneven bobbin winding may also be a problem as it causes improper changes in thread tension, resulting in pulling in the fabric and looping.
Also, remember not to start sewing from the very edge of the fabric as it may get pulled under the needle plate. Before starting sewing, it is also recommended to check that the bobbin thread is pulled out to the top of the plate and hold it gently as you start sewing.
