The HUSQVARNA® VIKING® Gathering Presser Foot (for machine group 9) is a convenient and efficient accessory for creating soft gathers and attaching ruffles in one seamless operation. This foot is ideal for light to medium weight fabrics, making it a perfect tool for garments, home décor items, and creative projects that require a gathered look.
Designed for use with a straight stitch in the left needle position, this foot produces gathers by adjusting the stitch length and upper tension. The longer the stitch length and the higher the tension, the more gathers are formed. It allows for consistent results and can even gather and stitch the ruffle onto a flat piece of fabric simultaneously, saving time and enhancing precision.

How to Gather Fabric:
Snap on the Gathering Foot.
Place the fabric to be gathered under the foot, right side up.
Use a straight stitch with left needle position. Adjust stitch length between 3–6. The longer the stitch, the more gathers are produced.
To increase fullness, raise the upper thread tension as needed.
How to Gather and Attach in One Step:
Place the fabric to be gathered under the foot, right side up.
Slide the flat fabric (the one to which the ruffle will be attached) into the groove on the foot, right side down.
Sew. The lower fabric will gather while being attached to the flat upper layer. Guide the flat fabric steadily without pulling back the gathered layer.
Adjust stitch length, upper tension, and presser foot pressure to increase gather intensity.
