The HUSQVARNA® VIKING® Open Toe Free Motion Spring Foot (8, 9) is designed for enhanced visibility and smooth operation during free motion quilting, stippling, and embroidery. With its open front, you have a completely unobstructed view of the needle area, making it easier to follow design lines, trace fabric patterns, or create intricate quilt textures.
The foot features a spring action mechanism that gently presses the fabric as the needle moves, preventing fabric lift and reducing the risk of skipped stitches or thread breakage—especially when using specialty or heavier threads. This ensures even stitching and allows for better control over stitch length and fabric movement.
Ideal for both beginners and advanced quilters, this foot gives you the freedom to create fluid, custom designs directly on your quilt or fabric project. Just remember to use the appropriate needle for the type of thread you are working with to achieve the best results.
For Sapphire series machines, select “Free Motion Spring Action” in the Set Menu. For Designer series, select “Sensor Q Foot” in the Set Menu. Remove the ankle of your presser foot holder and attach the Open Toe Free Motion Spring Foot (8, 9) in its place. Pull the bobbin thread to the top and begin quilting or embroidering freely, moving the fabric by hand in smooth, consistent motions as the machine sews.
