How to Use:
Choose a straight stitch on your machine and attach the Rolled Hem Foot. Make sure to engage the IDT™ system if your machine supports it, as this helps provide even fabric feed and professional results.
Prepare the fabric by lightly pressing the edge to approximately 4 mm wide if necessary. Place the edge of the fabric flat into the groove beneath the presser foot.
Sew a few stitches to secure the fabric, lowering the needle to hold the fabric firmly in place.
Raise the presser foot and gently pull the fabric edge into the scroll of the hemmer, ensuring it is held taut but not stretched.
Lower the presser foot and continue sewing, guiding the fabric edge with your hand to keep it aligned correctly.
Be careful not to allow the fabric to run under the right half of the presser foot, as this could cause uneven hemming or puckering.
Tips for Best Results:
For crisp fabrics such as cotton or linen, use a straight stitch to achieve a clean, sharp hem edge.
For softer or stretch fabrics, switch to a narrow zigzag stitch that gently encases the hem edge without stretching or distorting the fabric.
Avoid using this foot on sharply curved edges, as the fabric may not roll evenly and the hem may become uneven.
Using this foot will save time while giving your projects a professional finish that lasts. It is especially useful for sewing garments, lightweight curtains, table linens, and other home décor projects where clean edges are essential.
